Florence Avantgarde Fashion Biennale recovery





Talking about fashion - the video from our project at the Avantgarde Fashion Biennale in Florence is for some reason no longer on YouTube. So at least this image remains ...

The project shows fragments of the installation we did in Florence with fashion designer Kostas Murkudis. This space installation was a great experiment done with Daniel Hildman and the sound designers Andres Bosshard and Miki Yui. It was all about cinema and fashion. We decided to make a cinema without images. A "blind movie" so to say!
In the old railway station the "Statione Leopolda" we made a 20 meter long an 6 meter high screen from phosphorescent textile. The fabric was a custom production by Schoeller, the company that produces special fabrics for instance for Nike. Andres an Miki used small speakers, which normally are used for watches, for the installation. The small and thin plates were mounted with magnets and gave in conjunction with subweavers in the ceiling a great acoustic effect, when playing a piece of Mozart, or a "heartbeat symphony". From time to time a flash of light enhanced the effect of the fabric, so it would glow in the dark...
